Happy Holidays to all our Kindergarten families.  We hope your holidays are restful and fun!  We look forward to seeing everyone back at school in January. We have had a great week at school.  We continue to explore the numbers 1-10 by reviewing number lines and filling blanks number spaces in on a number line.  We reviewed patterns by making strings of Christmas lights with patterns and labelling our patterns with the letters such as AB, ABB, or ABC. We focussed on the letter D this week.  We learned the D song, practiced printing D, and drew pictures that start with D.  We have learned the following letters and letter sounds at school this fall and your child should be familiar with them all: S, M, T, I, P, N, D, C, P, O, A, B & G. We had a "snowball fight" at school using paper snowballs and the letters of the alphabet.  We practiced saying the letter and letter sound before we could throw our "snowball" We read "Sneezy the Snowman" and complete...

This week at school was Gingerbread week.  We read many versions of the gingerbread man story (gingerbread girl, gingerbread baby, ninjabread man ).  We talked about setting, characters, problem and solution. Ask your child what their favourite story was and why.  We did a guided drawing of a gingerbread house, we drew gingerbread people and houses in our journals, we made our own gingerbread people out of fun foam and we used loose parts to build gingerbread houses for our people. We focused on the letter G this week.  We learned the letter G song, practiced printing the letter G and learned about words that start with the letter G. By now your child should be able to share the name and sound of the following letters S, A, T, I, M,P, O, N, B and C.  In math, we continue to explore the numbers 1-10 as we work with number lines.  This week we worked on the concept of moving 2 or more spaces forward or backwards on the number line.  We used hot wheel car...

Volunteers Needed to help with Winter Crafts AM Kindergarten is looking for 4 volunteers on Friday December 15 from 9:15-10:30am to help us with Winter Crafts. PM Kindergarten is looking for 2 volunteers on Thursday December 14 from 2:00-3:00pm to help with Winter Crafts. This week in Kindergarten we have continued with our author study of Jory Johns book.  We read "The Smart Cookie", "The Sour Grape", "The Big Cheese" and "The Couch Potato".  We continued to work on our fine motor skills as we completed a guided drawing of each character in the story.
