Thursday December 14
This week at school was Gingerbread week. We read many versions of the gingerbread man story (gingerbread girl, gingerbread baby, ninjabread man ). We talked about setting, characters, problem and solution. Ask your child what their favourite story was and why. We did a guided drawing of a gingerbread house, we drew gingerbread people and houses in our journals, we made our own gingerbread people out of fun foam and we used loose parts to build gingerbread houses for our people.
We focused on the letter G this week. We learned the letter G song, practiced printing the letter G and learned about words that start with the letter G. By now your child should be able to share the name and sound of the following letters S, A, T, I, M,P, O, N, B and C.
In math, we continue to explore the numbers 1-10 as we work with number lines. This week we worked on the concept of moving 2 or more spaces forward or backwards on the number line. We used hot wheel cars to move along our number lines. We have also been practicing printing the numbers with proper formation.
