Monday April 22 is Earth Day.  We read "The Earth Book" by Todd Parr and completed a guided drawing of his cover page.  We used watercolor paper and paint to finish our project.  We learned about ways we can help to take care of the Earth.  Please ask your child for some of the ways they can help to take care of of our planet. We continue to be excited about our 8 duck eggs. The eggs are in the incubator set up in our class and will be learning about and watching our eggs over the next couple of weeks to see how the eggs change. We will be candelling the eggs every couple of days (shining a light under the egg) to watch the development and growth of the ducks.  This is a big week in Kindergarten - we have finally learned ALL the letters of the alphabet!!  We focused on the letter X.  We learned the songs, practiced printing , and drew pictures that start with the letters .We have learned the following letters and letter sounds at school this year and ...

We had an exciting week in Kindergarten as we had a special delivery of 8 duck eggs. We have the incubator set up in our class and will be learning about and watching our eggs over the next 3 weeks to see how the eggs change. We will be candelling the eggs every couple of days (shining a light under the egg) to watch the development and growth of the ducks.  We learned about heavy and light this week and used scales to figure out what items are heavy and which are lighter. We sorted items in groups of heavy and light items and arranged them from lightest to heaviest. We focused on the letter Q.  We learned the songs, practiced printing , and drew pictures that start with the letters .We have learned the following letters and letter sounds at school this year and your child should be familiar with them all: S, M, T, I, P, N, D, C, P, O, A, B,G,E,R,H, F, K L ,V, U, J, W, Z & Y. We focused on the letter Y.  We learned the songs, practiced printing , and drew pictures that start with the letters .We have learned the following letters and letter sounds at school this year and your child should be familiar with them all: S, M, T, I, P, N, D, C, P, O, A, B,G,E,R,H, F, K L ,V, U, J, W, & Z.  Please make sure they are familiar with both the upper case letter and lower case letter. Miss Donnelly, continued to explore measurement with our learners. They continue working on using the vocabulary shorter and longer to describe objects. Our learners used non standard unit of measurement (blocks, paper clips etc. )to explore the lengths of objects.   We have practicing measuring, counting and recording the length of objects. We continue to explore our community and the things we will find in the community.  We drew maps from our house to the school and practiced labelling our map.  We went on a community walk to explore Tuscany.
