Thursday March 14
We focused on the letter J. We learned the songs, practiced printing , and drew pictures that start with the letters .We have learned the following letters and letter sounds at school this year and your child should be familiar with them all: S, M, T, I, P, N, D, C, P, O, A, B,G,E,R,H, F, K L ,V& U. Please make sure they are familiar with both the upper case letter and lower case letter.
In math, we have been working on making 9. We have looked at what numbers make 9 through lots of practice with making number pairs. We have learned to play 3 different math games to help us learn the number pairs. We like to play Shake and Spill, Memory, and Race to 9.
We continued to explore animals and what they do in the winter. We are looking at the animals we saw in the "Loud Winter's Nap" story. This week, we looked at the beaver and the squirrel. Ask your child what they learned about what these animals do in the Winter.
In physical education, we are working on ball skills. The children are learning to bounce, dribble and move around with the ball.
We are pleased to have Fiona Donnelly, a University of Calgary student with us over the next 4 weeks. This week she has gotten to know our students and will begin teaching a few lessons over the next week.
Student Led Conference March 21 and 22
Eric Harvie School will be hosting our student-led conferences the evening of Thursday March 21 and the morning of Friday March 22. This round of conferences will be student-led and will provide each learner a chance to show what they have learned as well as provide time for families to engage with the classroom teachers. Families will be asked to sign up for a 30 minute time block to allow for ample time for students to show-off their learning, and as well to provide time for conversation.
Thursday evening Mrs. Mask will have times available from 3:30pm to 7:30pm and Mrs. Conley will have times available from 4:30 to 7:30pm.
Friday- Mrs. Mask 8:00am-1:00pm
Mrs. Conley 8:30am to 10:30am
Please make sure to sign up with your child's teacher as we want to make sure we have enough time to connect with our families.
