In math, we have been working on making 8. We have looked at what numbers make 8 through lots of practice with making number pairs. We have learned to play 3 different math games to help us learn the number pairs. We like to play Shake and Spill, Memory, and Race to 8.
Swimming is next week. Please check your email for all the swimming details.
This week we used our puppets from the story "A Loud Winter's Nap" to practice re-telling the story. We had fun building with loose parts to make the scenes.
Wednesday Feb 28 was Pink Shirt Day. Thank you to everyone who wore a pink shirt to stand up against bullying! We read the story "Kindness Grows" and then drew pictures in our journals to show how kindness can grow. We worked on making a paper chain with all our friends at school to demonstrate ways we can show kindness at school.
We have begun to explore animals and what they do in the winter. The first animals we learned about were the tortoise and the robin. We learned that tortoises hibernate in the winter and robins fly south (migrate). Tortoises breath out a unique part of their body while they hibernate, please ask your child what body part they use.
