Thursday January 25

We focused on the letter H this week.  We learned the H song, practiced printing H, and drew pictures that start with H.  We have learned the following letters and letter sounds at school this fall and your child should be familiar with them all: S, M, T, I, P, N, D, C, P, O, A, B,G,E,R and H.

We did our Lacrosse Residency. Each class had 2 opportunities this week to go to the gym and learn about Lacrosse. Our learners did an amazing job learning a new skill and had a great time. Ask your child about what they learned about Lacrosse.

We continued to learn about 3D shapes. We continued to explore with the shapes by building , describing the shapes using language such as pointed, rounded, curved, flat etc. and learning about how they can be used (roll, slide, stack)

We read, "Happy Hearts" and talked about what makes our heart happy. We did rip art hearts with construction paper.

We continued to work on our Winter, Winter, What Do You See Books. We did our cover page and all about the author page.

We had the chance to learn to use the Indi cars with a Grade 3/4 buddy classes.

Field Trip Volunteers Needed

Kindergarten will be going on it's first field trip this year.  We will be walking across the field to go on a tour of fire station #42 Tuscany.

  • PM Kindie Monday Feb 5, 1:30pm
  • Mrs. Conley's AM class Tuesday Feb. 6, 10:00am
  • Ms. Mask's AM class Thursday Feb 8, 10:00am
Each class will require 3 volunteers to accompany us on the trip.  If you have a valid police clearance and would like to volunteer for the trip, please email your child's teacher.  For the PM class volunteers are needed from 1:15pm - 2:15pm and AM classes volunteers will be needed from 9:45-10:45am.

The fire station is within the walking boundary paper work that families completed in September.  No additional paperwork is required for your child to attend this field trip.

Please help us by talking to your child in advance to prepare them for the possibility that our tours will need to re-scheduled if the firefighters are called away to an emergency on the day of the tour.  We have done this trip for many years and this has not happened, but it's a possibility as the firefighters are on duty during our scheduled tour time.

Please check your child's backpack for a yellow folder. This folder will be send home monthly with a learning task. Please keep the paper and go over it with your child, once you reviewed their work please return the empty yellow folder to school. Thank you for your cooperation.
