Thursday January 25

We focused on the letter H this week.  We learned the H song, practiced printing H, and drew pictures that start with H.  We have learned the following letters and letter sounds at school this fall and your child should be familiar with them all: S, M, T, I, P, N, D, C, P, O, A, B,G,E,R and H. We did our Lacrosse Residency. Each class had 2 opportunities this week to go to the gym and learn about Lacrosse. Our learners did an amazing job learning a new skill and had a great time. Ask your child about what they learned about Lacrosse. We continued to learn about 3D shapes. We continued to explore with the shapes by building , describing the shapes using language such as pointed, rounded, curved, flat etc. and learning about how they can be used (roll, slide, stack) We read, "Happy Hearts" and talked about what makes our heart happy. Thank you to everyone who is working on home reading each night!  We have very excited learners each day wanting to trade for new books to bring home and share with you.  A friendly reminder about library :  going forward Library book exchange will happen in the first 15 mins of each school day.  Kindergarten learners will no longer have a regular scheduled book exchange on Wednesdays.  Learners will be allowed to exchange their library book any day of the week.   We continued to work on our "Winter Winter What Do You See" book.  We are working on copying print, using a capital letter to start the sentence and a period to end the sentence.  We will work on creating a cover for our book in the next coming days.  We are getting excited to share our books with our families.  Happy New Year. We hope all our families had a lovely break. We were excited to have everyone back.  Update on Library Book Exchange: starting the week of January 15 library book exchange will happen in the first 15 mins of each school day.  Kindergarten learners will no longer have a regular scheduled book exchange on Wednesdays.  Learners will be allowed to exchange their library book any day of the week.   HOME READING STARTS TODAY!  Your child brought home their coloured folder today with their first home reading book.  In the coloured folder you will find information about home reading, a home reading book recording sheet, a home reading book and a pointing stick.  Home reading books can be exchanged any day at school.  Please send home reading books to and from school in the coloured folder.
