Thursday November 9
This week we learned about Remembrance Day. We learned about the significance of the poppy and talked about peace. We talked about what peace means to each of us. We read, 'The Peace Book' by Todd Parr and 'A Poppy Is To Remember'. We sketched poppies and sponge painted them.
AM Kindergarten attended a Remembrance Day Assembly led by the Mrs. Paterson and Mrs. Cox's Grade 3/4 .
We read, 'Thinking Thoughts and Feeling Feelings'. We continued to talk about our feelings. We talked about the importance of naming our feelings. We talked about how we can work together to create even though we each have our own unique ideas. We wrote in our personal journals on "Writing Wednesday" and continue to explore our feelings. We answered the question "I feel ________ when _______."
We continued to work on patterns. Please continue to explore patterns in your everyday world with your child.
We learned about syllables. We practiced breaking words into smaller parts. Please practice breaking words into syllables with your child.
We focused on letter P. We learned the P song, learned about words that start with P, the sound it makes, and practiced printing the letter P. By now your child should be able to share the name and sound of the following letters S, A, T, I, M and P.
AM Kindergarten practiced a fire drill.
