Thursday October 26

This week we focused on letter I.  We learned the I song, learned about words that start with I, the sound it makes, and practiced printing the letter I.

We engaged in a mini author study with Aaron Reynolds Stories. We read, Creepy Pair Of Underwear, Creepy Carrots and Creepy Crayons. We looked at retelling the story with First, Next, Last. We did a cutting activity for each book.

We continued to look at patterns. We looked at identifying, creating and extending a pattern. We talked about the core of the pattern and labelling a pattern. We made 2 and 3 part patterns such as AB, AAB and ABC patterns.

We visited Jen with E- Motions. We have been practicing different songs and movement activities all dealing with our emotions.

Some additional ideas that you can choose to do at home:

-Letter I practice. Can you find items at home that begin with I? Have your child look through flyers and cut out letter a or pictures that begin with a I. Your child can practice printing the letter a using chalk, pencil, marker, playdough etc.

- Patterns - please have your child look at home, inside and outside for patterns that appear in their environments.

Please work with your child to set them up for success on learning to put on and zip up their jackets independently. Especially with the cooler weather, it makes dismissal time run much smoother when children can do their winter gear independently. Thank you :)
