Thursday September 21

Thank you to all our Kindergarten friends who ran like Terry.  We learned lots about Terry Fox and his bravery and courage.  Thank you to for all the toonies for Terry that were donated for cancer research.

At school we continue to explore the ideas of being kind in Kindergarten.  We listened to stories about how to show kindness towards others.  We drew pictures of how to be kind at school.

We continue to work on strengthening our fine motor skills.  We learned the correct way to use scissors.  Ask your child what it means to not have "chicken wings" when cutting.  We snipped paper and used the paper to create our names.

We have used loose parts to create our very own self portrait.  We are very happy to see our masterpieces hanging in the hallway.

We have continued to explore numbers, working on 6. We have been practicing identifying and printing the numbers 1-6.  We have also continued our shape exploration by looking at squares and triangles.

We look forward to meeting families this evening! See you then :)

We are looking to do a community walk with the kindergarten classes next Thursday September 28. As long as their isn't rain, we will be going for our walk. We are looking for a volunteer for AM and PM classes. If you have your volunteer security clearance and can attend please email your child's teacher. jcmask@cbe.ab.ca or  tmconley@cbe.ab.ca Thank you.

Some additional ideas that you can choose to do at home:

-Printing your child's name. Have your child practice printing their names with a variety of items (crayons, markers, pencils, chalk, paint) . They can build their names with lego, blocks, buttons etc.

-Cutting skills- have your child cut up playdough, recycled items (newspaper, flyers) nature items (leaves, grass etc) to practice using their scissor.

Number Hunts- Go on a number hunt in your house or the community. What numbers can they find. Have your child write down the numbers they find on paper.
